In October 2025, Canada experienced an increase in employment, with the workforce expanding by 66,600 jobs, or 0.3%, following a rise of 60,400 in September. The growth in jobs was primarily fueled by part-time positions, which surged by 85,100, or 2.3%, effectively counterbalancing an 18,500, or 0.6%, decrease in full-time employment. Significant job increases occurred in sectors such as wholesale and retail trade (up 41,000, or 1.4%), transportation and warehousing (up 30,000, or 2.8%), information, culture, and recreation (up 25,000, or 3.0%), and utilities (up 7,600, or 4.6%). Meanwhile, the construction sector faced a decline of 15,000 jobs, or 0.9%. Regionally, employment grew in Ontario, adding 55,000 jobs, or 0.7%, and in Newfoundland and Labrador, which saw an increase of 4,400 jobs, or 1.8%. However, Nova Scotia and Manitoba experienced declines, losing 4,400 jobs, or 0.8%, and 4,000 jobs, or 0.5%, respectively.
