18.09.202608:00:00UTC+00Euro Zone Current Account Surplus Narrows to €36.5B in July 2026

The Euro Zone’s current account surplus (n.s.a.) declined in July 2026, easing to €36.5 billion from €46.9 billion in June 2026. The latest figures, updated on 18 September 2026, point to a moderation in the bloc’s external surplus over the month.

The €10.4 billion month-on-month contraction suggests a cooling in net trade or income flows compared with early summer levels. While the Euro Zone continues to post a solid surplus, the July pullback may reflect shifting global demand conditions, changes in energy and commodity prices, or seasonal factors affecting trade balances across member states.

Market participants and policymakers will be watching upcoming releases closely to see whether July marks the beginning of a softening trend in the external position or a temporary adjustment within an otherwise robust surplus trajectory.
